I'm in the back of a van on the way to our in Manila. My head is swimming in a dream. Our four night stay at a beach resort has resulted in 6 women making the journey to live with us this very night at our safe house.
We stopped for dinner along the way after gathering the belongings of each girl. Over burgers and fries a peace settled in me as I saw each face laughing, eating and resting. I have heard many of the girl's stories; forced to work, forced to be with customers, betrayed by friends, betrayed by family, horrible abuse. These things are unimaginable and it is a celebration that the chains are broken but, I find that there is something even more joyful than the removal of chains. The pure joy of knowing the gifts of love, creativity, wisdom and beauty they all have will now be given to many. I think of the children that will now thrive in their care, the sisters that will look up to them, the countless people they will inspire. I'm reminded that when Jesus saves it is never just to bless us but, to make us a blessing for many through Him.
My heart is celebrating the first ripple of a pebble dropped in the pond called eternity.
How many people get to experience what we did? I find it amazing that we were invited to the party!
