Tonight we were on the streets of Manila. Literally on the side of a highway. This is a popular place for men to find women to buy. Pimps and mamasons (female pimps) wave cars down and negotiate girls and pricing like you’d sell a lamp at a flea market. Some may purchase more than one girl at a time and the time intervals are very short.

These precious girls are much more difficult to start a conversation with. They are like little doves, if I get close or speak to them they are frightened. The deep trauma they have experienced is much closer to the surface here. Without the stages and the lights the facade does not exist.

We met with a mamason that our friends had made a connection with earlier this month. We spoke with her about the girls getaway vacation and she introduced us to her girls. They were early twenties and one just 18. They all opened up to us and their personalities started to surface. Funny, gentle, quick witted and beautiful. Real women of unimaginable worth, my sisters.

After some time we start to see business taking place and we feel less welcome. It’s hard to leave knowing even just one girl is staying. We have all of them signed up for the girls getaway next week and we leave with the hope of seeing their faces relaxing on the beach.

Jesus is preparing the way for each one. I can see His love over flowing and ever present. I’m overwhelmed that we have the good pleasure of delivering the gift He has meticulously prepared.
