Tonight Bekah and I felt that it was our mission to bring joy to “walking street” the most heavily populated stretch of road with thousands of trafficked women.  We smiled and danced as we walked along the street, anticipating new friends that we get to see set free.  What better reason to party! Each night before we go out Jesus seems to give us a theme that directs our stratagey for finding His daughters that night.  The theme is never the same but, we are always amazed at the divine opportunity that is opened up.

A friend we met a few nights ago on walking street came with us tonight.  Just a few nights ago she was working in a bar but, tonight she is partying with us and telling all of her friends that they can trust us.  She visited the safe house in Manila and will be moving in later this month.  She is already transformed in the way she walks and talks.  Hope and joy pour out of her, she almost skips as she walks.  I keep calling her “kaibigan” friend in Filipino but, what I really want to say is sister.

I have learned enough Filipino or tagalog language to have a basic introtuction conversation.  Tonight I decided to go for it and just speak as much tagalog as I could.  Any eyes that came my way (there were a lot!) I would just shout out tagolog to them.  Many faces were surprised and the girls warmed up immediately.  It seemed as though they felt honored that I would speak their language as I certainly hoped that they would.  Then I realized that none of the cusomters here, even bar owners bother to use even basic tagalog communication.  Women are literally bought and sold from their provices, placed in a bar to work off the debt in a place where no one speaks their language.   But, Jesus! has sent two girls from the USA to speak the native language and welcome women into a family that freely gives.

I can’t tell you how many allies and dark corners, shady bars and seedy strip clubs we have walked into and found just the girl we were sent to find.  I can’t wait to see what the theme is for tomorrow.
